What powers the Gladiator?
We have two awesome engines to go over with the 2022 Gladiator, and they both provide you with a ton of power and capability! The engine that all trims get standard is a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque which will pair with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, depending on your preference. All trims of the Gladiator are eligible for a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel which gets you 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs exclusively with the eight-speed automatic transmission. For towing, the Gladiator is exceptional as it can tow 7,650 pounds with a payload capacity of 1,700 pounds. There is a lot to love about the Gladiator's engine options!
Impressive features for the Gladiator
You can get four trims with the Gladiator, and each one will provide drivers and passengers with tons of luxury, tech, and performance items! The first trim we will discuss is the Sport which comes standard with a 7-inch display screen with the Uconnect 4 infotainment system and standard Apple Car Play and Android Auto. In addition, there is a cabin air filter that will filter out up to 95% of all harmful particles, such as smog and dust. If you go with one of the higher trims of the Gladiator, you will be treated to more advanced tech, such as an 8.4-inch screen and Uconnect 4C, which has navigation and a 9-speaker Alpine stereo. The Overland is the next impressive trim level as it adds 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted glass, heated side mirrors, and side steps, while inside the cabin has keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, 115-volt outlet, and ambient footwell lighting. If you want to head off-road with your Gladiator, check out the Rubicon, which has an electronically locking front differential, Fox suspension components, an electronically disconnecting sway bar, and another rear tow hook. We highly recommend the Mojave trim for desert driving as it has an electronically locking rear differential, extra Fox parts, and a desert-rated badge.
How safe is my Gladiator?
The short answer is the Gladiator is very safe! It has several advanced safety features that will keep you secure on and off the road. Coming standard is a Blind Spot Monitoring system with Rear-Cross Path Detection, which will check the areas around the Gladiator, so you will always know when other cars or obstacles are around you. Then there is the Adaptive Cruise Control system that will allow you to maintain a pre-set distance between the Gladiator and the vehicles in front of it. We round things out with the Forward Collision Mitigation system that warns you when you are about to get into a head-on collision and will apply the brakes for you if you do not. Additional safety features include rear parking sensors and a front-facing camera.
