How is the 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe powered?
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe features a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system, meaning it is a seamless blend of gas and electric power. This comes in the form of a two-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, an electric motor replacing the traditional alternator, another replacing the transmission's torque converter, and a rechargeable 400-volt battery pack sealed beneath the rear seat. This setup delivers 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of immediate torque. Furthermore, the Grand Cherokee 4xe offers 25 miles of all-electric driving, the gas equivalent of 56 MPG, and a 470-mile full driving range. Jeep named the PHEV system 4xe after the conjunction of 4x4 and electric. Therefore, it comes standard with Quadra-Trac I 4x4. This system sends 52% of power to the rear wheels and 48% to the front wheels to provide wondrous traction no matter the terrain or weather. Quadra-Trac II 4x4 is optional for the whole lineup besides the Trailhawk, where it is standard. Qudra-Trac II is an intelligent 4x4 system uses a two-speed transfer case with high and low drive modes. Additionally, Quadra-Trac II sends up to 100% of available power to the axle with the most traction by continuously monitoring road conditions. Lastly, standard for the Summit and Summit Reserve trims adds unrivaled capability with a two-speed transfer case and a rear electronic limited-slip rear differential, giving the Grand Cherokee 4xe the ability to send up to 100% of available engine torque to the single rear wheel with the most traction.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe base-level trim is based on the normal Grand Cherokee's Limited trim, giving it a wide array of premium standard features.
