The Wrangler 4xe is the Industry's First Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) with a Front and Rear Locking Differential. Its system is paired with a 2.0L I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine. A 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative brake booster and eight-speed automatic transmission work together to send impressive amounts of power and torque to each wheel, maximizing the capability of every component. The sealed and waterproof battery pack and electronics even perform in tough conditions like fording creeks and streams up to 31.5 inches in depth.

HYBRID MODE
The default mode, Hybrid, combines torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motors. This combination provides maximum horsepower, instant torque and the best acceleration. Electric power is consumed first.
ELECTRIC MODE
When the battery has more than a 1% charge, it can run in Electric Mode. This allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The vehicle can run in this mode for up to 21 miles.

What is the Wrangler 4xe's Hybrid Powertrain?
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, meaning that it combines the power of a traditional gas-powered engine alongside a rechargeable battery. For the 2023 Wrangler 4xe, this means a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There's also a set of two electric motors, which are powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. All in all, the Wrangler 4xe's powertrain supplies you with up to 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque! This SUV has a total driving range of up to 375 miles, and up to 21 of those miles are all-electric range, with virtually zero emissions! Along with its electric power, the Wrangler 4xe also uses regenerative braking to recapture energy while the brakes are applied. You can easily recharge your battery in just two hours with the Jeep Level II charging cable, at either an at-home or public charging station!

For fans of the Jeep Wrangler's power and athleticism, you might be wondering whether the hybrid elements have an effect on the Wrangler's legendary capability. We're happy to report that the Wrangler 4xe is highly capable when it comes to off-roading, and in many ways, the hybrid powertrain only enhances its performance. As we mentioned above, the Wrangler 4xe has over 300 miles of total driving range, so you can stay out on the trails for longer. You can also immerse yourself in nature thanks to the peace and quiet of the Wrangler 4xe in Electric Mode. The Rubicon is the Wrangler 4xe's sportiest trim level, with features such as blue front tow hooks, all-terrain tires, and a front disconnecting sway bar. All of the electric features are totally waterproof-sealed, so you can brave the elements with confidence. In fact, the Wrangler 4xe can ford up to 31.5 inches of water when properly equipped!
What are the Other Features of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
Just like all other Wrangler models, the Wrangler 4xe has signature features like a removable roof, removable doors, and a fold-down windshield. All four trim levels in the Wrangler 4xe lineup are exclusively available as a 4-door Wrangler Unlimited, and the lineup includes the new Willys trim, as well as the Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude trims. The Willys has black wheels, Willys badges and decals, mud-terrain tires, and off-road suspension. The Sahara features 20-inch wheels, LED lighting, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4 touchscreen.
